Pavilion of the Communist Genocide

The pavilion was inaugurated in 1996 and comprises the events that took place between 1943 and 1992. In its first display cases the documents relative to the creation of the political forces like "Balli Kombëtar" and  "Legalita”. An important place is dedicated to the presentation, through documents and photos, of the operations, of the winding up of the anti communist forces, the special court for the political opponents during the time of war and also the liquidation of the opposition party.

Also the vicissitudes against clergy, religion and institutions are documented.The display cases contain the testimonies of the destiny suffered by the deputies who rebelled against the communist regime that had reached power after 1944, the sentencing and execution of intellectuals in 1951, and that of other intellectuals.Also on show is a collection of tools and torture instruments used during the time of the regime of the communist dictatorship during 1985 - 1992.

The end of this dictatorship is documented through the students’ movement that bought to the end of the dictatorship and to the foundation of the democracy with the first 22 pluralistic elections in March 1992.The section ends with the list of the people who were condemned and shot during the communist dictatorship.
